General Informations

The FIM MiniGP began in 2021 as an initiative under the FIM Talent Promotion Programme & Dorna Sports. This series is specifically designed for riders aged 10 to 14, with the top 5 riders from each series invited to compete in the World Final in Valencia. In 2021, there were 13 riders, and the number of participants increased to 16 in 2022, including 2 international riders from Singapore and Vietnam. Riders compete using identical machinery and equipment because we believe this is the best way to identify true champions. The top five riders in the Overall Standings will have the opportunity to race in Valencia, Spain, against champions from 22 other countries worldwide.
  • FIM MINIGP WORLD SERIES
The FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series stands as a prestigious talent development platform in motorsports, internationally recognised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). This championship is meticulously crafted to nurture young and talented riders at the grassroots level, serving as a pivotal stepping stone towards professional motorcycle racing, including Moto3, Moto2, and ultimately, MotoGP.

A total of 22 countries, including Malaysia, participate in this world championship series. At the end of each year, each country sends 5 representatives from two competing categories to race in the FIM MiniGP World Final. The winner will be crowned as the FIM MiniGP World Series World Champion.
  • BEST ACHIVEMENT
In 2023, the FIM MiniGP Malaysia team was crowned World Champion, and Malaysian rider Qabil Irfan was named the 2023 FIM MiniGP World Champion. The championship took place in Valencia, Spain.

  • EVENT COLLABORATIONS

ASTRO ARENA (TV COMMERCIAL)

FIM MiniGP Malaysia collaborates closely with Astro Arena to ensure extensive and exclusive coverage of the championship. The FIM MiniGP Malaysia races are featured in Astro Arena’s sports news segment, Cover, and the Nadi Weekend programme.

Additionally, exclusive interviews with riders and organisers are conducted ahead of each race round. This partnership provides a robust platform to promote the championship, showcase young talents, and capture the attention of both the local and international motorsports community.

KEMENTERIAN PENDIDIKAN MALAYSIA

Starting in 2024, FIM MiniGP Malaysia has been recognised by the Sports, Co-curriculum, and Arts Division of the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) for co-curricular scoring for participants in this championship. The MOE also acknowledges FIM MiniGP Malaysia as an international-level sport, allowing participants to earn full marks in the Physical Activity, Sports, and Co-curricular Assessment System (PAJSK).

This recognition benefits participants, as motorsports are not considered core sports like football, badminton, or athletics. However, participation in this championship is still eligible for co-curricular marks under motor sports activities.

GIATMARA TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Students from GIATMARA BATU participated throughout the season in the FIM MiniGP Malaysia and SIC Ohvale Junior Championship as part of a collaboration between GIATMARA and FIM MiniGP Malaysia, providing exposure and experience in the racing world as mechanics.

This collaboration is expected to foster talent development, enhance knowledge transfer, and build valuable technical skills for trainees. This initiative ensures they are well-prepared to meet the growing demands of the two-wheel automotive industry. The programme aligns with GIATMARA's commitment to providing practical experience and industry-relevant training

M8 PUSHBIKE

The FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series collaborated with M8 Pushbike during Rounds 2, 3, and 5 to introduce children aged 4 to 9 participating in pushbike sports to the world of racing. Key collaborative programmes included MiniGP riders participating in pushbike races, joint podium ceremonies, and the highlight event at the MAM Festival of Speed in Sepang. With the participation of international contestants and support
from prominent figures such as Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir (President of the Motorsports Association of Malaysia), Dato’ Seri Muzri (President of the M8 Cycling Club), and Zulfahmi Khairuddin (Director of FIM MiniGP Malaysia), this collaboration aims to nurture future motorsport talents and strengthen the racing community.
